OUR MISSION
Light In The Darkness Ministries is a non-profit, Christian missionary ministry that was established in 1998 by the Trawick family. The organization is headquartered on Roatán Island, located in Honduras. The primary focus of the ministry is to provide practical and spiritual support to underprivileged children in various locations across the island.
The inception of the organization can be traced back to a life-changing event that occurred during David Trawick's sixth-grade year. David's Social Studies teacher, Mr. Barnes, made a daily habit of reading articles from the Texarkana Gazette to his students. While the girls usually chose articles about pop culture, such as a celebrity or pop singer, and the boys opted to read about the Dallas Cowboys, Mr. Barnes always made sure to choose articles that went beyond the Four States area.
One day, Mr. Barnes read an article about "Street children" in Brazil. This was a concept that was entirely foreign to David, who, although below middle class, had never experienced poverty to such an extent. The article deeply touched David, and he felt a compelling call to become a missionary.
The experience sparked a lifelong passion in David for helping disadvantaged children. His deep compassion and desire to help led him to establish Light In The Darkness Ministries. Over the years, the organization has grown and expanded, providing services such as education, healthcare, and spiritual guidance to children in need.
Today, Light In The Darkness Ministries is a beacon of hope for many children and their families, and it continues to make a positive impact in the lives of those it serves.

HOW WE GOT HERE
Light In The Darkness (LITD) Ministries began its mission work in 1998, with a primary focus on serving those in need. Over the course of 20 years, LITD has extended its outreach to various regions, including San Luis Potosí, México, where we served for seven years, and Savannah, GA, where we led a Spanish congregation within the Savannah Holy Church of God for three years.
In 2009, guided by divine intervention, LITD Ministries made its way to Roatán Island, Honduras, where our efforts have been dedicated to helping children through various programs. These programs include Lighthouse of Hope Church, Kid’s Hour Church 4 Children, the Exciting Bible Study, God’s Princesses Girl's Club, Gentlemen For Jesus Boys Club, and Kid’s Kitchen of Hope.
Lighthouse of Hope Church is a welcoming place for individuals of all backgrounds to experience God's love and grace. LITD is a place where everyone, just as they are, can find a God who will lift them, just as He is.
